Mike Manera… Award Winning Comedian
“If most comedians jokes were as funny as Manera’s true stories, the world would be a better place” The Scotsman
“A comedy force” Time Out
“As funny as he is clever. And Manera is very clever” The Guardian
I have been a stand up comedian for over 14 years. In that time I have performed loads of gigs both in the UK (Comedy Store, Big Night Out, most other major clubs) and abroad (Munich, Barcelona, Hamburg etc). There has also been a bit of telly. This included…
The Joan Rivers Position (CH4)
Take The Mic (ITV1)
The Stand Up Show (BBC1)
I have done three full runs at the Edinburgh Festival. The first of these was Hearing Voices (2006) with the very excellent Michael Fabbri. Kate Copstick reviewed the show for The Scotsman and said…

This rather dapper picture of me is a publicity picture for “Hearing Voices”.
Music Club, a Comedy Show About Music
Winner! Best Free Show (Edinburgh Festival 2008)
In 2008 I returned to Edinburgh with my good friend and fellow comedian Mike Belgrave with the show Music Club. Music Club was a comedy show about our shared love of music. I am still very proud of the show. It was great fun to perform, write and produce. I am pleased to say it won an award for Best Free Show. There were over 800 free shows running at the Edinburgh Festival that year, so it was quite an accolade.
The picture of me with the record is a publicity picture for Music Club. Yes, that was a seriously shite haircut.
I have recently relocated to the lovely Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire. I’m getting divorced and I’ve stopped performing comedy. For now.
Piccadilly Comedy Club
“Promoter and regular MC Mike Manera prides himself on showcasing the best newbie comics and breakthrough acts alongside the usual circuit regulars and TV names. He has excellent taste, too…” Time Out
In August 2011 I opened Piccadilly Comedy Club at The Comedy Pub in Piccadilly, London.
Time Out named Piccadilly Comedy Club as the sixth best comedy club in London. CLICK HERE for the Time Out article.
In the six and a half years that I ran Piccadilly Comedy Club many great comedians regularly performed at the club. They included Nish Kumar, Katherine Ryan, Romesh Ranganathan, Hal Cruttenden, Ellie Taylor, Ian Stone, James Acaster, Tez Illyas, Luisa Omielan and many many more.
The club started when Comedy Pub landlord/manager and all round great guy Raul Dolores asked me to promote comedy at the venue. The idea was that I would host the shows with a different line up of great comedians every week. I don’t think either of us guessed it would be that successful.
One of my favourite nights was the annual Comedian of The Year Final, which helped launch a number of comedy careers. Here is a review of the 2016 final.
It wasn’t all plain sailing though. A fire (nothing to do with me, honest!) damaged the venue, restricting the capacity of the venue for nearly a year. The club finally closed in January 2018 when Raul left the venue and I moved north.
Here is a promo video for Piccadilly Comedy Club. I can only apologies for the hair style. Nice jacket though…
West Ham, Mike On Monday, YouTube And All That…
In 2017 I started a regular West Ham YouTube show called Mike On Monday. It appears on the excellent West Ham channel HammersChat. The idea is for the show to be an “alternative take” (or “funny”) at the goings on at the east London football club. Since then I’ve gone on to appear in numerous live streams on the channel as well as blogging for the popular Claret & Hugh site. Here are a couple of my favourite shows…
